Silly silly stuff. Enough of the Hollywood hyped up crapola that comes across the boob-tube! Jenny McCarthy is full of emotional bonkychonk which is convincing way too many gullible Grey's Anatomy enthusiasts. (you know who you are) And by the way, NO, that show is nothing like real life.

So, in a nutshell, the CDC confirms that there is no correlation. If you want to keep your conspiracy theory tucked in your belt, then go right ahead. Just don't feed it to the rest of the population. Why you may ask? Lets just take a little step into the past before measles, polio, and pertussis etc. existed...

Measles...need I say more than this graph? If you can't read it's small print, the summary is this. 5,784,000 world wide annual deaths from it. Now there are 960,479 deaths. For Americas, it was 695,000 and 61 pre and post vaccination era's respectively. Yeah, wow is right.

I could go on and on here. Bottom of the line is, get your kids vaccinated, and if you happen to be in Hollywood and decide to talk like an idiot, sit down and take a refresher course in history before misleading the rest of the world.

Just want to throw my opinion out there...

The Hype

-Vaccines are a good thing. People who say differently have not remembered the history of this world or nation in the pre vaccination era. There were many many many deaths and disorders that came from illnesses caused by the vaccinations we now offer and take for granted.

----Now, having said this, there is a lot of hype over this Swine Flu (AKA: H1N1, or Influenza A) pandemic. In talking to some of the most respected Emergency Medicine physicians, they don't even give Tamiflu (drug given within 48 hours after onset of the Type A or B flu), the drug to help shorten the flu symptoms. Their reasoning? The H1N1 isn't that bad. As a matter of fact, you probably had it yourself already.

Causes

Earlier forms of the H1N1 virus were found in pigs. Over time, the virus changed (mutated) and can now infect humans. Because H1N1 is a new virus in humans, your immune system cannot fight the virus very well. As a result, it has spread quickly around the world.

The largest number of H1N1 flu cases have occurred in people ages 5 - 24. Few cases, and no deaths, have been reported in people older than age 64.

The H1N1 flu virus can spread from person to person when:

• Someone with the flu coughs or sneezes into air that others breathe in.

• Someone touches a door knob, desk, computer, or counter with the H1N1 germs on it and then touches their mouth, eyes, or nose.

• Someone touches mucus of a child or others while taking care of them when they are ill with the H1N1 flu virus

You CANNOT get H1N1 flu virus from eating pork or any other food, drinking water, swimming in pools, or using a hot tubs or saunas.

Symptoms

Symptoms of H1N1 flu infection in humans are similar to classic flu-like symptoms, which might include:

• Fever above 100.4 °F

• Cough

• Sore throat

• Runny or stuffy nose

• Headache

• Chills

• Muscle aches and fatigue

• Diarrhea

• Vomiting

Exams and Tests

If you think you have been exposed to H1N1 influenza, call your health care provider before your visit. The medical staff may want to take proper precautions to protect themselves and other patients during your office visit.

Because the H1N1 flu has become widespread, most people do not need to be tested for it when they have symptoms.

Your doctor may test you for the H1N1 flu virus by swabbing the back of the inside of your nose if:

• You are at high risk for flu complications.

• Others at high risk of flu complications have been in close contact with you.

• You are very sick.

Your doctor may:

• Look in your mouth, throat, nose, and ears

• Listen to your lungs

• Perform a chest x-ray

Treatment

Most people who get H1N1 flu will likely recover without needing medical care or special antiviral medications. Check with your health care provider about whether you should take antiviral medications to treat the H1N1 flu.

Doctors may prescribe antiviral drugs to treat people who become very sick with the flu or are at high risk for flu complications. The following people may be at high risk:

• Children younger than 5 years old, especially those younger than age 2

• Adults 65 years of age and older

• People with:

  • Chronic lung (including asthma) or heart conditions (except high blood pressure)

  • Kidney, liver, neurologic, and neuromuscular conditions

  • Blood disorders (including sickle cell disease)

  • Diabetes and other metabolic disorders

  • An immune system that does not work well, such as AIDS patients or cancer patients receiving chemotherapy

Other high risk people include:

• Pregnant women

• Anyone younger than age 19 receiving long-term aspirin therapy

• Residents of nursing homes and other chronic-care facilities

People who may receive antiviral medications after coming into close contact with a person who is known to have, or probably is infected with the H1N1 virus, include:

• Those at high risk for complications of influenza

• Health care workers, public health workers, or first responders

Oseltamivir or zanamivir are the two drugs recommended for the treatment or prevention of infection with the H1N1, or swine, influenza virus.

People with H1N1 flu should also:

• Get plenty of rest

• Drink clear fluids (such as water, broth, sports drinks, and electrolyte beverages for infants)

• Watch for emergency warning signs (see below)

But there's some good news: Another study finds that older men who take high doses of folate can decrease their risk of hearing loss by 20 percent...

...Foods with high levels of folate include leafy vegetables such as spinach, lettuce and asparagus; dried or fresh beans; peas; liver products; and fortified cereal products.

The researchers pointed out that their study is the largest to look into links between diet and hearing loss.

Oldie but Goodie...Oklahoma version

OKLAHOMA HIGHWAY PATROL vs NEW YORK LAWYER                                     A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by an OHP.   He thinks that he is smarter than the Officer because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better education then any cop from Oklahoma.   He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the OHP's expense.   The Officer says, "License and registration, please."  "What for?" says the lawyer.   The Officer says, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign."   Then the lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming."   "You still didn't come to a complete stop," says the Officer. "License and registration, please.."    The lawyer says, "What's the difference?"   "The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!" the Officer repeats.   Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket."   "That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir," the Officer says.     At this point, the Officer takes out his nightstick and starts  beating the daylights out of the lawyer and says,  "Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?"      God Bless Oklahoma

Giving too much stuff and not enough time

Now that I'm home taking care of my wife and children in need... I caught a glimpse of Dr. Phil.  Yes the doctor that knows little if anything about medicine other than what is a band-aide.  

He was interviewing a woman whom had lost all hope with her child.  Her child was now doing everything in her power to make every choice a bad one.  She was finally arrested for some of her deeds.  So the big doctor asked her why this had happened.  Her reply...She had given it all to her child.  Every material thing she could afford to give was given.  She summed it up with the intriguingly concise sentence. "I gave her everything except for my time".  

I have discussed this with my wife and mother in law at length.  Our parents generation was never given anything materialistic that they didn't have to earn on with their own sweat and tears.  So when they grew up, what did they do?  They overcompensated and doled out everything materialistic in attempts to give them what they didn't have.  

I think they are missing the point.  They are successful today because of the fact that they had to earn their success.  Their parents worked hard.  However that is just a fraction of my point here.  I would like to point out that distractions were a minimum in those days.  No TV, Playstation, cell phones, or iPod.  Communication and travel outside of the home was expensive and therefore kept to a minimum.  A prime example of this was my grandma who passed away a few years ago.  When I called her, our conversation was always very brief.  Why you may ask?  Because she was asocial (not antisocial-a missnomer meaning fighting against social norms)?  NO! Again, because of the aforementioned cost.  It was a habit to keep conversation short to keep cost down.  I digress... Back to my point.     

Our children deserve our time, not materialistic gifts that are aimed at compensating for the void in time.  Activities such as eating dinner together, doing homework together, and attending extracurricular events are imperative in their growth.  This means not only attending the extracurricular event, but participating.  In that time with them, you not only bond in friendship with them, but also find out what their friends are up to, what they are being taught, and what they feel is important in life.

How about that for a random post!

Health care for everyone!

Okay, like my previous statement about healthcare for everyone...after that, I propose free car tune ups for everyone!  THEN we'll see how fast and efficient our cars will be tuned up.   Might as well become your own mechanic.  

I agree that Health care needs reform. Here's something to chew on...

TORT REFORM!  Stop all the frivolous law suits.  Stop suing doctors because your baby comes out looking like you!

BUILD A WALL!  Illegal influx is killing us!  Do you know how many illegals I see every day in our clinic just in Oklahoma (because I speak spanish) whom are using state insurance (medicaid-Oklahoman tax payers thank you very much)?  The people are sweet, but the policy is killing our nation.

ILLEGAL BOOT CAMP!  Learn english, love our country, serve in the military, and become one of us!  Then let the U.S. welcome them with open arms.  None of this Amnesty nonesense... Click here for the nonsense

To lose trust...

"To be trusted is a greater quality than to be loved".  I think I misquoted this (there is another word instead of quality), but it drives the point home.  For me, the President of the United States should be someone who represents the moral, ethical, and all around values of the American people.  When a president equivocates due to being given misinformation, I understand this and can forgive him very easily.  However, when falsehoods are jammed down my throat and is plain as the writing on the wall that they are false...It really chaps my hide.  

When "Slick Willy" lied about his affair with Monica, it not only was a moral disgrace for the national face of our nation, but to lose the trust by lying about it to the people was the tipping point for me.  I can no longer trust anything that comes out of his mouth.

The same goes for Barack Hussein Obama...

Here's a report in regards to his "cram HIS health care plan down our throat" speech.

Rich Noyes, director of research at the MRC, says The Associated Press did do a fact check on his speech.   "[The AP story suggests] that he uttered 'a variety of over simplifications and omissions,'" says Noyes. "He talked about how he would not add a single dime to the deficit, when the studies are showing it would add about a trillion dollars to the deficit over the second year of the plan. He talked about not permitting any illegal immigrant to be covered, when in fact it was Democrats who voted down any attempt to verify immigration status."   "The list of things that he talked about [was] very misleading," the MRC spokesman concludes, "added to the arrogant veneer of him scolding anybody else for taking liberties with the truth as liars, as he did."   Noyes says Obama's speech was about as "audacious" as one could possibly get. He says while the AP did do its fact check, there has been little coverage from the mainstream media on Obama taking liberty with the facts during his speech. Until that happens, says MRC, it gives the president "a green light to lie and cry wolf about whatever he wants, whenever he wants -- and it will aid in the most radical government takeover ever attempted in America."

Health care bill spelled out

I love Catholics...I'm not a fan of Ted Kennedy

A man who is chronically drunk, commits several crimes worthy of jail time by drinking and causing a death, and touted to be fighting for "the people" (poor people) when he was living above the system, has lost all of my respect.  He worked in an extreamly lavish offices with marble everything, beautiful wooden panel walls, and carpet you could sleep on comfortably to name just a few.  Last time I checked, our public officers were not kings.  

Should he be touted as a Hero?  Well, I guess Michael Jackson was.  Apparently our nation is okay with morally sloven public figures who speak out of both sides of their mouths.

Let the man rest in peace, and let us move on.  I'm sure he had good intentions during his lifelong career of politics, but that doesn't excuse his slithering around the law and moral askew motives.

Not only do I have great friends who are of the Catholic faith, but I share much in common with their moral beliefs.  Ted Kennedy may have been a self proclaimed "Catholic", but like so many of my faith who decide to go "Jack", he didn't practice it.  I can't put it any better than this courageous Catholic priest.  

A Catholic pro-life leader has some scathing words concerning Senator Ted Kennedy's Catholic funeral.

 

Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, released this statement concerning Senator Kennedy. "We must, as a matter of precept, pray for the salvation of heretical Catholics like Senator Edward Kennedy, but we do not have to praise him, let alone extol him with the full honors of a public Catholic funeral and all the adulation that attends such an event."   He adds that while Senator Kennedy called himself Catholic, like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Joe Biden, they are actually wolves in sheep's clothing.   "They do not hold to the teaching of the church. They, in fact, take every opportunity seemingly to contradict the teaching of our church," Euteneuer says. "So in the case of Senator Edward Kennedy, he was not only against his church's teaching on the issue of abortion, but the same with embryonic stem cell research, the same with gay marriage and various other issues which set him in diametric opposition to his church's very well-defined and clearly articulated teaching."   Euteneuer says he is speaking out now to remind everyone that Catholics cannot honor a person with a full and public Catholic funeral when, like Senator Kennedy, he really was not.

 

How long do you want to wait?

If you don't pay with money, you pay with time. If you don't have money, then you spend hours and hours searching for that one person/company that will take you in and help you. If you don't have insurance, then you go to one of the Government run health agencies and wait, and wait, and wait. That wait, could get much much much longer. And the quality? Not even a submarine could go that low. Obama medical plan...yeah, it's brutal. Click here. If anyone is a fan of Canada's socialized medicine, I suggest one of two or perhaps both of two things... 1)MOVE THERE! 2)Talk to someone who lives there. The latter has helped me understand how good we have it right now. Perfect system? I think far from it. But to make it worse copying or mimicking their sytem? I think is very irresponsible.
