As a side note. Here in Oklahoma, our local news showed some African Americans picketing a small town newspaper outside of Tulsa. The paper's focus is on the local economy. The reason for the upset? They felt it was racist that the paper not put a huge front page article announcing Barack Hussein Obama's win over John McCain. The newspaper replied that they would have done the same if McCain had won. Their focus is on the local economy. They did give an article covering the local election results.
Picketing is better than riots though. I guess I didn't have to buy that shotgun of mine. (that was for you Lisa ;) )

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?
;)
That's funny...Brian is at the gun show right now and planning on bringing another one home...for what purpose is beyond me, seeing as we have a shotgun and handgun as it is.
I don't think it's a question that ALL media is biased. Talk radio and the mainstream media. And I happen to only listen to those that I feel most closely share my ideals (and I find that Neal Bootz is that new source). BUT, I do my research into the issues that matter to me, whatever they may be.
I think the mainstream media most definitely has a liberal viewpoint and to me it is quite obvious (and a bit frustrating, which is why I also enjoy satire). And talk radio, for the most part, is conservative...unless you listen to Media Matters...
My question is, how did the former republican presidents (Bush, Reagan, Harrison, etc.) win office if the mainstream media was so biased?
18 out of the 44 presidents elected were republicans, 6 were whigs or no party.
Now days, I think there is no question of bias and lapdoggish in the media and the general public is uniformed about the issues and what caused them (or who). If only the general public was media blind, we might have actual fact reporting instead of straight partial "news". And I can't say that I am completely media blind...I don't think anyone is.
jenn in right. Not all media is biased, and talk radio (which is dominated by conservatives) does a good job of balancing things out. This "liberal media" bias crap is funny because its not like the conservatives are objective either. Let's face the facts: there are both LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVE media outlets and this is ok.
As for Emanuel, he was NOT Clinton's Chief of Staff. He served 2 years as an economic advisor...nothing more.

The division in media (between liberal and conservative) is relatively new in American history. Harrison (who served from 1889-1893) did not confront this phenomenon.
Only in the last 25 years has the United States experienced this passionate political divide. For Harrison, the media/political issues centered on a post-Civil War/Guilded Age mentality, which was more divisive in terms of geography than political philosophy.
I don't have anything intelligent to add so here's my comment. Nice post...and I wouldn't call your cartoons anything but professional...wasn't it your cartoon that circulated all over the hospital and made it's way to the administrators. I think that says something.
lol - I caught that one richard... :)
I thought the line about “clinging to their guns and religion” was supposed to be untrue? Well… I can see that you have the guns…
Darn right Debbie, Richard's cartoons are fantastic and and of a professional quality in my opinion!!

Here's an article I though you might like...

Okay, for the record. I did change my post to make it more accurate. Thank you Brad for checking on that for me. However, according to Wikipedia...
"Emanuel became a senior advisor to Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998".
So, 5 years total. Enough to corrupt or become corrupted. Who knows which came first?
I feel like I need to brush up on my political reading to leave a comment....lol
The media is frustrating...no doubt in that. I thought the cartoon was hilarious (and SO true to life) I THIRD (or fourth) the comments about your commics. They are very VERY good.
Keep it up....
Lisa, I enjoyed the article you linked to. I think it goes to show that many in our nation truly feel that with the democratic run congress, that some of those right to bear arms may be taken away...since there have been attempts in the past.
I sincerely hope that is not the case. While I don't like having a gun in the house, I understand my husband's need to protect our family if it becomes that necessary.

SHOCKER!!!
Isn't it though... ;)
Jenn and Brad...You two are "silly pumpkin heads". (I take insults from my kids and pass them along others...makes me feel better about myself)
What? I really like Brad...but thanks for the insult. :)
Oh yeah...you have cooties, so there!!
